My drawing practice stems from my education in jewellery-making, where I discovered a particular affinity for nitric-acid etching. The process of carving out intricate lines and patterns into the black etching fluid sparked a lasting love of detailed mark-making that continues to shape my illustrations today.

 

This foundation has evolved into a distinctive illustration style defined by crisp, highly detailed black-and-white linework combined with expressive colourful splashes of paint and collected fragments of cut-and-paste collage. My work is driven by a fascination with the fantastical, the natural world, and elements of nerd culture, often bringing these influences together in highly patterned portraits and imagined narrative scenes and creatures.

 

Alongside this visual language, my practice is deeply informed by my lived experiences, particularly my relationship with anxiety, my queer identity, and sexuality. These perspectives shape not only the themes I explore but also the emotional core of my artwork. I am drawn to storytelling that blends the personal with the mythical, underpinned by my faith in empathy, the power of daydreams, and care for all living things.

 

Working with a wide variety of materials, techniques, and interests, my portfolio reflects an ongoing exploration of identity, imagination, and the power of detailed, intentional mark-making.
